Project: Two Identical Repack Cells for Tier 1 Automotive Supplier

CHALLENGE

Our end-customer (Tier 1 Automotive Supplier) was in need of a repack system that allowed operators to unpack Raw Goods parts from cardboard packaging and repack the Finished Goods into dunnage totes. The pallet conveyor and pallet lifts required a very specific sequence of events that were mostly automated, but also required operator intervention to proceed to the next step or previous step. This prevented and allowed the operator the ability to step through the process where they would be removing or adding layers of Raw Goods/Finished Goods from pallets. Also included in this project a tote station that locked an empty tote into place. The operator would scan the Kanban card on the tote, then the part 2D matrix to ensure they matched once the part was placed into the dunnage tote. Once a match was detected the tote would be unlocked and removed by the operator.

This project was completed in partnership with Stac Material Handling of Jasper, IN.
