CHALLENGE

Our customer, a major electrical manufacturer was in need for an automated leak test station for a myriad of part models, lengths, and volumes. Each of these parts needed to be leak tested as they are crucial to critical infrastructure. Along with the leak test, the parts also needed to be marked if they’d passed the leak test and locked in place if they hadn’t for further inspection by a supervisor. Toolless quick-change tooling fixture allows future proofing of the cell as new tooling can be introduced without the need for a new machine. This would give the manufacturer the confidence in knowing their parts conform to their customers’ specifications. This project was requested by the customer to be turnkey.

The 16 week project resulted in a turnkey machine that runs cycles under 30s and allows none or all nests to be bypassed and run independently. The intuitive HMI interface allows for easy operation/diagnosis of the machine at a glance. The leveling casters allow for the machine to be easily positioned and leveled. The linear actuators allow the height-adjustable base to be raised/lowered 10″. The guarding allows for easy access to critical areas of the machine for maintenance and troubleshooting. The front/rear light curtain allow operators quick and easy access to the marking system as well as nests for part loading. Failed parts are locked into the nest using the clamp. A supervisor has the credentials to login and unlock the part for further inspection.

This machine allows our customer to deliver on their promise as a supplier to deliver quality and leak free parts.
