Introducing the X Platform: Endless Automation

Every manufacturing manager knows the pattern. You have a repetitive task — leak test a port, mark a part, scan a weld, drive four screws — and you need it automated. You call an integrator, wait months for a custom design, pay a custom price, and hope the machine actually fits through your door. We built the X Platform to break that pattern.

One platform. Four applications. Endless Automation.

The X Platform is Envision’s standardized machine and controls architecture, purpose-built for the small-to-mid-size automation projects that keep your line moving. Because the mechanical base, controls architecture, and safety design are already engineered, we skip the months of ground-up design work every custom machine demands — and your project ships in a fraction of the time of a traditional custom build.

XTest — Leak testing and functional testing. Validate parts before they ship.

XMark — Dot peen, laser, and inkjet marking. Traceability on every part.

XScan — Vision inspection and verification. Catch defects before the customer does.

XBuild — General assembly, multi-step dial assembly, screw driving, pick-and-place. Put parts together, faster.

and more…

Each X machine starts from the same proven base — same frame, same controls architecture, same safety philosophy — and gets tailored to your specific part, cycle time, and process. You get the speed of a standard product with the fit of a custom build.

Built for the plant floor, not the showroom

The X Platform wasn’t designed in a vacuum. Every feature came from a real problem we’ve solved for manufacturers:

  • Parametric footprint starting at 36″W × 36″L × 72″H — our standard size fits through any standard doorway, and the base is fully parametric. Need 36″ × 48″ × 72″ for a longer part? Done. Virtually any base dimension is available.
  • Ergonomic height adjustment — your operators aren’t all the same height, and fatigue costs you throughput.
  • Front and rear light curtain pass-through — load from one side, unload from the other, keep the line flowing.
  • Allen-Bradley or Siemens controls — you choose the platform your team already supports.
  • Quick-change tooling — run multiple part models on the same machine without a tear-down.
  • 120VAC or 220VAC compatible — plug it in wherever you have power.
  • Integrated fork tubes — move it with what you already own.

Ship in weeks, not quarters

This is the part that changes the math for most projects.

Every custom machine starts at zero. Blank CAD file, blank panel design, blank PLC project. Weeks of mechanical engineering before anything gets cut. More weeks of electrical design before anything gets wired. More weeks of controls development before anything runs. That’s how a simple leak test station ends up with a six-month lead time and a price tag to match.

The X Platform starts from a proven baseline. The frame is engineered. The panel layout is standardized. The PLC architecture is already written. Our team focuses engineering effort only on what’s actually unique about your application — the tooling, the sensors, the process sequence. Everything else is already done.

The result: dramatically shorter lead times and lower engineering costs than a ground-up custom machine for the same application. You get automated quicker!

Arrange them. Combine them. Scale them.

Here’s where the X Platform earns its name.

A single X machine solves a single process step. Line up three, four, a dozen of them — and you’ve built a fully modular automation line for a multi-step manufacturing process. Each module drops in with the same footprint, the same pass-through geometry, the same controls language. Add a station when volume grows. Swap a station when the product changes. Reconfigure the line when the next program lands.

That’s what we mean by Endless Automation. The platform scales with your business instead of locking you into a single configuration.

When X is the right call — and when it isn’t

The X Platform is purpose-built for common applications that show up on nearly every production floor: test, mark, scan, assemble. If your process fits one of those buckets, X gets you automated faster and at a better price point than a ground-up custom build.

But we’re not going to pretend a standard platform solves every problem. Some applications need a ground-up custom machine — unusual part geometries, aggressive cycle times, specialized processes, integration into existing lines that have their own constraints. That’s still the core of what Envision does, and it always will be.

The X Platform doesn’t replace our custom capabilities. It extends them. For small, well-defined projects, X gets you running quickly. For the complex, high-value work, our custom engineering team designs exactly what your line needs — no compromises.
